Upraising
scientists in Tanzania is a movement whose aim is to help
students improve in science subjects and mathematics. Its main goal is to
create conducive environment for the students taking these subjects to be
creative and rational thinkers. It is involved in helping as it can, the learning
process of students who are taking science and mathematics in making sure they
pass these subjects regardless the difficult environment they study. UST will
be providing learning materials and services to students who are members for
free of charge. For the students who are not members of the movement will be
charged small fees for services.
The movement was initiated by six university
students taking science and mathematics in education after conducting a short
research during teaching practice. These men organized a movement to help
students in different schools as volunteers as they proceed with the studies.
After completing the university the movement stopped for a bit, since the
members departed. It’s through social networks where the movement moved again.
While serving students at their schools, the six members managed to create whatsapp group, facebook page, online magazine (a blog) for
sharing materials and helping one another to solve different problems in
science subjects, challenging one another and helping students who are able to
access the internet.
The movement is still in need of finance and human
resources for it to move all over Tanzania in order to achieve the great dream
of new Tanzania of science and Technology. We believe that together we can move
even further than the way we think we can.
